Frequently Asked Question
Will my insurance cover acupuncture?
That depends on your service provider, but acupuncture and massage are being covered more and more all the time. Check with your insurance company for details.
What can Oriental medicine do for me that my regular doctor can't?
Eastern medicine takes an approach to health that is very different from the bones, blood and tissue model followed by western medicine. At Sattva, we strive to provide you with services that care for your whole being. If you've been let down before by attempts to treat a chronic problem, or if you simply don't trust prescription medicines, we invite you to try a fresh approach and see what eastern medicine has to offer you. Experience little to no side effects with care that is personalized to fit your needs.
Can Chinese herbs be dangerous if I am currently taking medication?
Much like taking two or more medications in tandem, there is always a possibility that certain Chinese herbs will be incompatible with some synthetic drugs. However, there is nothing to worry about. As experts in the field of Chinese Herbology, we are absolutely capable of preventing any undesirable reactions. Your safety is our first concern.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Relax! Acupuncture needles are actually 25-50 times thinner than a hypodermic needle. So it's not the sharp pricking sensation you're probably worried about. What you will feel is a small pinch followed by a dull, warm heaviness as the acupuncture point is being stimulated. Plus, with all the variety of types and sizes of needles available, we can maximize the effectiveness of your treatments while keeping you as comfortable as possible.
How many treatments will I need?
That depends on your individual case. While some clients may come to Sattva to be treated for a chronic condition, others simply come in for a relaxing massage now and then. Our end goal is to give you care that is effective, safe and 100% individualized to meet your specific needs.
