Adjunct Therapies

We also offer several adjunct therapies that are used to compliment and enhance our major services. These include the Chinese practices of moxibustion, cupping and warming needles.

With moxibustion, the Chinese herb mugwort is lit and applied over certain points of the body, using the heat to facilitate the flow of energy. This technique is commonly used for pain management and arthritis, but is effective in treating other debilitating diseases as well.

Cupping employs a glass cup that is suctioned onto the skin. It can then either sit stationary, or be moved around to greatly enhance an acupuncture treatment. This technique rapidly stimulates circulation and reduces swelling. It is used to treat neck, back and shoulder pain, common colds and influenza.

Warming needles are a combination of acupuncture and moxibustion. In this technique, mugwort is placed on the end of an acupuncture needle and lit, allowing heat to penetrate the trigger point, increasing the needle's healing effect.
